Warriors & Botswana in friendly

The national soccer team the Brave Warriors will play Botswana at Maun on March 16, as part of the two countries 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers preparations.

The Namibia Football Association this week confirmed a date with Botswana following an invitation by Botswana FA for the Warriors to play the Zebras on March 16.

The match, according to the NFA Secretary General Barry Rukoro, will help the national team prepare for the must-win way clash at Burkina Faso on March 26 of their Group F fixture.

Gladiators prepare for Nigeria clash


Following their success in the first round of the London 2012 Olympics games, the Brave Gladiators have started with preparation for the more interesting clash against Nigeria’s Falcons in April.

The Gladiators have been in camp for two weeks now and will continue to have camps for the ladies to ensure that they stay fit for the away match in Nigeria on April 2 with the return leg scheduled for April 16 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

On Saturday, the NFA’s Galz & Goals football initiative in partnership with UNICEF and SCORE reached out to community members, providing voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) services and important healthy lifestyle messages to adolescent girls.

The healthy lifestyle football festival which took place last Saturday incorporated football, various health activities and sharing of information in an effort to motivate behavioral change and educate both the girls and the community of the dangers of HIV.

The Khomasdal stadium in Windhoek will be hosting a one day NFA Galz and Goals football festival, with a focus on addressing one of Namibia’s biggest development challenges - HIV-AIDS.

Rukoro Passes FIFA Test

Namibia Football Association Secretary General Barry Rukoro is now a FIFA accredited Administration and management Instructor, following his successful completion of the FUTURO III Course last year.

Rukoro was part of the group of prospective regional instructors in the FUTURO III course that was held on November 22 to 26 in Windhoek and the latest reports from FIFA”s Technical office, that also includes his Certificate states that “FIFA is pleased to inform you that after a detailed evaluation and internal discussions at FIFA, you are have successfully completed the FUTURO III Course in Administration and management”.

Namibia loses to Malawi

Windhoek- Namibia ‘s Brave Warriors were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Malawi in International friendly match played at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Wednesday night.

In the first game under the management of care-take coach Brian Isaacs, the home team got on the score sheet first as Germany –based striker Wilko Risser gave the Brave Warriors the lead on 35 minutes, for a joyous celebration from the players and the crowd, that braved the downpours on the night.

The Malawians, coached by Kinna Phiri had other ideas and got their equalizer just before halftime through Peter Wadabwa.

Isaacs Announces team to face Malawi

The Tafel lager Brave Warriors squad to face Malawi on Wednesday night was revealed on Monday morning with coach Brain Isaacs announcing the last 22 men for the Friendly match.

At the occasion used also to reveal the new agreement between the NFA and their technical suppliers PUMA, coach Brain Isaacs used the opportunity to release to the media his last 22 men squad for the international friendly match against the Flames of Malawi at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Wednesday, 20h00.

NFA & PUMA Extends Contract


The Namibia Football Association today extended their relationship with sporting brand Puma in Windhoek which will see all national teams under the FA donning the brand for the next three years.

The special ceremony took place at Safari Hotel and Conference Center on Monday morning in the presence of the media and the Tafel Lager Brave Warriors players who will feature in the International friendly match against Malawi on Wednesday night at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
