Namibia finish third at Cosafa U 17 championship

Namibia finished with the bronze medal after a 2-1 success over hosts Mauritius in the third-fourth play-off while Angola were crowned winners of the 2018 COSAFA Under-17 Championship with a 1-0 victory over South Africa in Sunday’s final at the Stade St Francois Xavier in Port Louis, Mauritius, claiming their first regional title at this age-group level.

Botswana and Mauritius picked up vital wins on the third day of the 2018 COSAFA Under-17 Championships to leave Group A on a knife-edge going into the final round of fixtures next week.

Botswana defeated Seychelles 2-1, an improved showing from the islanders after their opening day 8-3 loss to Namibia, but still not enough to keep them in the tournament as their semifinal hopes were dashed.
