Brave Warriors coach Ricardo Mannetti is satisfied with the quality of football and the atmospheric conditions the 2017 The Namibian Newspaper Cup underway at Vineta Sports Stadium in Swakopmund.

The national team head coach Mannetti, says he is blown away by the will of the players to win and their technical abilities.

“The boys have shown a great will to win. They are very competitive and with that come their technical ability. They are not afraid to express themselves and that is very impressive. It has been good football all the way and the goals have been coming in thick and fast. Remember we have a problem of goal scoring at all our national teams level and hopefully these boys can take it further and once selected into national teams give this type of performance or even better”, states Mannetti.

The former National Under-20 gaffer also cites the pitch conditions at the Vineta Sports Stadium as enabling for the players to perform the way they have done thus far.

“ It is important for the host region to understand the importance of a good pitch so that players can express their skills. Erongo has done a sterling job with the pitch and therefore the quality of football is impressive. The boys are playing as if their lives depends on the game and that is the kind of attitude we need”.
Mannetti ads that the competition gives an indication of what the future holds for the country and also commend the hordes of people that turns up for the event every day.

“ Without a doubt with crowd has been awesome thus far. They have created a perfect atmosphere for the boys to perform and that brings the best out of the boys. Very involved is the crowd and that is wonderful, keep it up”, concludes Mannetti.

The competition will continue on Easter Sunday from 14h10 as Hardap and Erongo clash , followed by Otjozondjupa against Khomas in the semifinals.
