Football, which for the first time has taken a serious approach to the Sports Commission Awards, has dominated this year’s awards ceremony by winning eight and sharing one out of fourteen available awards. Football only registered participants in eleven of the fourteen award categories of which only two Sports Man of the Year and Sport Achiever of the Year, was won by another code. Both were won by boxing.
The Acting Secretary General of the NFA, Barry Rukoro told NFA.org that winning these awards is very important for football particularly at this stage of our preparations for Ghana 2008 as it will give everybody additional motivation and belief in what the NFA is doing. He further stated that it is indeed much more difficult to repeat that high achievement but that the NFA is already planning another similar or even better haul at next years Sport Commission Awards.
The Acting Secretary General also took the opportunity to thank the Sport Commission for a perfect ceremony and wonderful evening for sport in Namibia.

Jacqueline Shipanga - Administrator of the Year
Brave Warriors - Senior Team of the Year
Muna Katupose - Junior Sportsman of the Year
Muna Katupose - Most Improved Sportsperson of the Year (shared)
Deon Namiseb - Disabled Sportsperson of the Year
Special Olympic Football Team – Disabled Team of the Year
The President of NFA, Mr. John Muinjo, also received a certificate in recognition of his contribution to sport at international level. Mr. Muinjo is the Chairman of the COSAFA Referees Committee and also member of the Organising Committee of the U/17 FIFA
