 Stars Confirm Date with Civics
Defending champions African Stars marched onto their second successive MTC NFA Cup final courtesy of a 2-1 defeat of Sport Klub Windhoek on Saturday.
In front of capacity crowd at the Khomasdal stadium, Stars got off to a perfect start when the impressive Edison Muheua was brought down after four minutes and returning defender Pat-Neville Uanivi confidently bangs home the resultant spot-kick, sending their followers into total pandemonium.
SKW continued to play according to their game plan with Arent Von Stryk, Patrick Jagger and Ralph Ellinger combing well but wayward finishing coupled with a rock-solid defence of Stars kept the score in favour of Stars at the break.
In the second half, SKW took the game to Stars but Gilbert Rwasoka charges were up to task and eventually got their second via the prolific goal-machine Silver Surayari, whose slotted home  from six yards out  after a well-placed corner-kick by Muheua.
The Stars faithfuls started preparing for the final as their team looked certain of holding on o their two-goal cushion and at times, came in whisker of demolishing their luckless opponents.
With two minutes left, Frans Van Wyk rosed from the bench to head home a consolation goal form a  corner-kick but it was little too late as African Stars recorded their second successive appearance in the final of the prestigious MTC NFA competition.
“We played so well but had no luck and lost concentration at times and we lost, but that’s how football is and good luck to Stars”, SKW coach Richard Starke says.
