Namibia's home-based team have a chance to create an upset in the inaugural
edition of the new African Nations Championship (CHAN) when they host
Zimbabwe in the return leg of their first round tie.
Namibia forced a credible goalless draw away in their first leg and now with
home advantage in the return match at the Independence stadium in Windhoek
on Saturday are poised for progress to the next round.
The winner will take on South Africa in the next round in November.
Namibia's side is being coach by Dutchman Ari Schaans, who also takes charge
of the Brave Warriors' squad when they begin their 2010 World Cup qualifying
campaign on May 31.
The home-based side is packed with players with senior international
experience, who competed at the African Nations Cup finals in Ghana earlier
this year.
Zimbabwe have called up 21 players for the match with their coach Joe
Valinhos adding two new players, Desmond Maringwa of Dynamos and Stephen
Kahondo of CAPS FC.
They leave for Windhoek on Thursday.
The match will be officiated by referees from Burundi. The match
commissioner is David Fani of Botswana.
