Women National Teams
The national teams participate in continental and international competitions in their respective categories and have now become permanent participants at all international football competitions such as the qualification competitions for the FIFA World Cup, African Cup of Nations, Olympic Football Championship and all FIFA recognized youth and women football competitions. As full members of COSAFA Namibia’s national teams both men and women also takes part in its competitions.
The highest achievements of the Brave Warriors, Namibia’s senior men National Team remains its single qualification for the African Cup of Nations held in Burkina Faso in 1998. The team also won two silver medals in the COSAFA Castle Cup in 1997 and 1999.
The team is currently entangled in a tough qualification fight for the African Cup of Nations to be held in Ghana in January 2008. The Brave Warriors are currently joint second with Libya following the DRC which occupies top position with Ethiopia being fourth. Much depends on the result the team could get in its last match away to Ethiopia in Addis Abeba and the outcome of the match between the DRC and Libya in Kinshasa.
Namibia’s women national team, the Brave Gladiators, is the current COSAFA vice champions following the Championship held in Zambia in 2006.
