Rudolph Bester goes AWOL – 14/11/2007
The Namibia Football Association has made known to the media that it is investigating a matter of going absent without leave against Rudolph Bester. Rudolph Bester was part of the Brave Warriors team that has been called up for camp in preparation for the match against Tunisia. According to the Acting Secretary General, Barry Rukoro, the coach of the Brave Warriors, Ben Bamfuchile, was, yesterday, approached by Messrs. Nana Tjombe and Eliphas Shivute to withdraw the player from the national camp as they wanted to send the player to Serbia for trails. Rukoro informed nfa.org that the coaches declined the request on the basis that the national team assignment was on a FIFA approved date. The Secretariat only received a letter at 16h10, yesterday, to request the withdrawal of the player which was also declined on the same basis as the coaches and in addition the fact that the Association was never informed about upcoming trails for Bester and as a result expenses were incurred in the name of the player which could only be canceled at a cost to NFA.
NFA than learned that the player has left camp without permission and was nowhere to be found. It was later confirmed with the airport authorities that the player left the country at about 17h00. This implies that at the time the letter came to the NFA the player has already left camp and could indeed have been at the airport already.
At the moment no official position has been taken by the Association other than the normal procedure of pressing charges. We however regret the involvement of senior club officials in this whole fiasco.
Sincerely
