NFA awaits CAS verdict
The Namibia Football Association awaits with bated breath on the outcome of their appeal case against CAF, regarding the eligibility of Cameroon-born Burkinabe player Hervé Zengue.
The NFA on Friday presented their case to the International Court for Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland and the President John Muinjo was a happy man.
“This time around we were given and accorded the respect we deserve and our case was well heard and indeed, we are now content that the merits of the case where presented and will be considered as such. It the justice that was always wanted with CAF”.
The NFA were initially given until Tuesday 10 January for the verdict to be handed out in the case at the CAS after they were thrown out by the CAF twice late last year on technical grounds.
“It is about principles, in terms of justice. In this case we protested to CAF about the eligibility of this player whom we regard to be a Cameroonian. But in the end we were not given a platform to express ourselves. So it’s about the eligibility and the way CAF handled our protest as well”.
The Brave Warriors have been in camp since January 3 in hope of a favorable outcome that can see them compete at the 21 January AFCON finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
