Adams & Kasaona join Tanzania battle

Namibian women football foreign legion of Tomalina Adams and Mammie Kasaona jetted home on Tuesday morning to join up with the Brave Gladiators as Namibia prepares to face Tanzania in the African Women Champion qualifiers on Saturday.

The two players of SV Germania Hauenhorst Tomalina Adams a midfielder and Mammie Kasaona a defender joined up with the rest of the squad in a morning session at the NFA Technical Centre and expressed their readiness for the clash against the Tanzanians.

“We don’t know anything about them our coaches will tell us more but we are ready”, Kasaona said.

Adams said as footballers “we are expecting anything from the visitors and we will also play our normal game and try to get a good result” on Saturday at the Sam Nujoma stadium with kickoff set for 17h00.

The ladies also told www.nfa.org that they have are confident of extension to their one-year contract they signed in October with their German fourth-tier women football club.

“We have been scoring goals and have helped our team to lead the league. When we got there they were third”, they said.

They also spoke of the football standard in northern Germany.

“ It is very competitive and we are the only foreign players in that league and so we always strive for exceptional showing and discipline have thus far kept us going”, Kasaona said.

Adams also expressed their gratitude to various organizations for them settling in and excelling thus far:

“We will thank the NFA, our coach Jacqui, our German family and the NFA Technical Director for all their help and support”, said Adams.

The duo also reckons there are various players in the current national team setup that emulate them but stressed g that discipline will be key.

The team was due to play a friendly game on tuesday afernoon against the national under-17 who also are in camp for their FIFA U/17 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa on January 21 at home, before the squad can be reduced from 22 players to only 20 for the match on Saturday.
