Warriors take on Zambia
Brave Warriors coach Bernard Kaanjuka has released his training squad for the upcoming friendly match against Zambia in Johannesburg on Saturday.
The friendly match will form part of the two countries preparation for the 2012 AFCON finals (Zambia) and the 2013 AFCON qualifiers (Namibia) later this year and Kaanjuka was a happy man to have this friendly match.
“There will be a limited number of game time for my players and this friendly will come in handy indeed” said Kaanjuka refereeing to the only confirmed 11 matches to be played in the remainder of the MTC Premiership season for local-based players.
The coach went on to say: “even after this match on Saturday, there will be a two-week break before the league resume and that is not good for the fitness of the national team players”.
Namibia will be playing Liberia in the second preliminary round which is due to kick off during the first half of 2012 with the dates yet to be confirmed while the final round will be played in September and October, as the race for the AFCON Finals in South Africa next year gets underway.
Kaanjuka also cried foul that his team will not be able to pay as many friendly as possible.
The players have been in camp since January 3 most of them and the foreign based players, Ephraim Tjihonge from African Warriors, Lazarus Kaimbi from Thailand and Rudolf Bester from Orlando Pirates have also been training with the team and they will be part selection for the friendly.
Kaanjuka has built up a good record since taking over as Brave Warriors caretaker coach in October 2011, and is still unbeaten after four matches.
