Gladiators host Tanzania

The national ladies soccer team, the Brave Gladiators will have tough task game against visitors Tanzania on Saturday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium at 17h00.

The Gladiators gets their African Women Championship qualifiers underway on Saturday at home to Tanzania and Coach Jacqueline Shipanga expressed caution of the visitors.

“They are a tough physical side and they have already played at the African championships and also did well at Cosafa next year and we are expecting a tough game but we have a game plan and have worked really hard for the match”, Shipanga said.

The Gladiators had a warm-up match against the national under-17 side on Tuesday afternoon, who also prepares for their FIFA under-17 Women World Cup qualifier match against South Africa on January 21, after which the squad of 22 players was reduced to 21 for the Tanzanian clash.

With football stating that only 18 players should be part of the match day team, the remaining three players will be in the stands for moral support, Shipanga said.

Also in the Gladiators squad are the two players of SV Germania Hauenhorst Tomalina Adams, a midfielder and Mammie Kasaona, a defender who joined up with the team on Tuesday.

The Tanzanians are expected to arrive in Namibia on Thursday.
