The National women under-17 soccer team suffered a 5-0 defeat at South Africa on Saturday to all but blow their chances of making it to the 2012 FIFA Women U-17 World Cup.

Coming into the match, the Namibians played a one-all draw in Windhoek a fortnight ago and all was set for an interesting return match at the Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton, Johannesburg.

But in then end the South Africans proved too strong for the Namibian ladies as the former scored five unanswered goals to take a 6-1 aggregate win into the second round of the African world cup qualifiers.

South Africa’s Mosili Makhaoli scored her side first before first leg goal-scorer Caryn van Reyneveldt added a second to give the host a 2-0 lead in 25th minutes.

Three minutes later Makhaoli scored her second of the day and South Africa’s third – and that’s how it stayed at the break.

Amanda November scored South Africa fourth goal in the 70th minute and the fifth and last goal came just two minutes from the final whistle from the captain Nomvula Kgoale - South Africa 5, Namibia 0.

South Africa will now face the winner between Ghana and Cameroon, and the match is scheduled for March this year whole it is good luck time next for the Namibians.

The FIFA under 17 Women’s World Cup 2012 will be played in Azerbaijan from 22 September to 13 October.
